Wasankar Scam : EOW recovers Rs 7.5 cr so far, Rs 27 cr still remain!

wasankar-arrestedNagpur: The Economic Offenses Wing of Nagpur Crime Branch has succeeded in recovering Rs 7.5 crores and a target of Rs 35 crores is slated to be recovered this year. A balance amount of Rs 27 Crores shall still remain to be recovered in the Prashant Wasankar Scam.

Noted automobile dealer Avinash Bhute who was arrested by the Crime Branch in connection with the money parked by Prashant Wasankar in his business was recently released on conditional bail. Sources in the Economic Offenses Wing of Nagpur Crime Branch said that Avinash Bhute is violating the conditions of the conditional bail. He was to deposit Rs 1.5 crores per month which he has not been doing as yet.

All legal authorities reject bail applications
Meanwhile, the cohorts of Prashant Wasankar including Bhagyashree Wasankar, Vinay Wasankar and Abhijeet Chaudhari have exhausted all their legal options to get bail. Sources in the crime branch said that when the accused cohorts of Prashant Wasankar were rejected bail by the High Court, these accused had moved an application for bail in the Supreme Court. However, their applications were rejected before even taking the case on the board with a directive to first pay Rs 160 crores before applying for bail.

Beneficiaries file writ petition challenging EOW notice
Sources alleged that as many as three beneficiaries have file writ petition challenging the notice by Economic Offences Wing to pay the amount parked by Prashant Wasankar with them.

These beneficiaries include Chetna Chandan, Naresh Chandanand Dimple Kanungo.

Sources claimed that the amount parked by Prashant Wasankar with Chetna Chandan and Naresh Chandan is the largest amount of Rs Eleven Crores Ninety Lakhs (Rs 11, 90, 000, 00/-).

The couple had tried to con the investigative agency to accept share certificates. However, that too was an attempt to con since their company was not a listed company and they buy their own shares in the year 2014 which was sold in 2013. The hearing of their challenging the notice of the EOW is slated to be held this week.

The third person who had challenged the notice of the EOW to pay the amount parked by Wasankar was Dimple Kanungo. However, she paid the amount of Rs one crores 15 lakhs to the EOW.

The others who have paid the amount parked by Prashant Wasankar include ; ATS Property Information Bureau Rs 1 crore, D Y Patil Sports Academy Rs 1 crore, Vijay Jain Rs 35 lakh and one Bhandari Rs 28 lakh.

The amount that Avinash Bhute and Chandan couple owes itself amounts to Rupees twenty crores. (Rs 11 Crore 90 lakhs of Avinash Bhute and Rs 92 lakhs of the Chandan couple).

Another company in which Prashant Wasankar had parked the money was Esaar (India) Private Limited has been involved in finance, Share Trading, Investments, business activities. An amount of Rs 4 crores 70 lakhs was parked with this company. Sources in EOW, Nagpur said that this company is ready to arrange the said amount and deposit at the earliest.
