
Nagpur: In a significant breakthrough, Crime Branch Unit No. 6 arrested a wanted murder accused from Wadi area, who was allegedly absconding after committing a brutal killing in Bhandara district and was also involved in multiple house-breaking cases in Nagpur.
According to police, officers and staff of Crime Branch Unit No. 6 were on routine patrol when they received credible information that a wanted accused, identified as Vishal Ramchandra Manekar (36), was staying on rent at Davlameti under Wadi police limits.
Manekar, a resident of behind Bapuna Wine Shop, Jaripatka, Nagpur, was wanted in a murder case registered at Gobrawahi Police Station. He was allegedly part of an unlawful assembly that used firearms and knives in the killing.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the Crime Branch team laid a trap at the specified location and took the accused into custody.
Confession in murder aase
During interrogation, Manekar allegedly confessed to his involvement in the murder registered at Gobarwahi Police Station. The case has been registered under stringent provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), indicating the serious and organised nature of the offence.
Linked to house-breaking aases in Nagpur
Police further revealed that during questioning, the accused also admitted to involvement in house-breaking cases under the jurisdictions of Jaripatka and Gittikhadan police stations in Nagpur.
Following his arrest, Manekar was handed over to Gobarwahi police for further legal action. Detailed investigation is currently underway to ascertain the full extent of his criminal network and any possible accomplices.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Maknikar and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil.
The arrest was executed by Police Inspector Bharat Karade, API Sachin Gaikwad, PSI Rahul Rote and other members of Crime Branch Unit No. 6.
Police officials described the arrest as a major success in tracking down a dangerous fugitive involved in organised violent crime. Further probe is in progress.
