Nagpur: City police force was jolted to the core as the In-Charge Police Inspector of Wadi Police Station Bhimrao Khandale was on Thursday suspended for “disgraceful” action while performing duty. The exact reason although has not been specified for the drastic action, sources said that the action pertains to insensitive handling of ‘gang-rape’ of a minor girl that reportedly took place in Wadi area recently.
According to sources, a minor girl was ‘gang-raped’ on December 30, 2016. The victimized girl divulged the heinous incident to her relatives. For reasons, the relatives lodged a complaint in this regard on January 23. However, the Wadi police took the matter lightly and registered the case as that of molestation (under Section 354) instead of ‘gang-rape.’ But the higher officials got wind of the entire episode and subsequently they launched a secret probe to dig out the truth. The probe reportedly found PI Bhimrao Khandale guilty of insensitive action. The outcome was his suspension.
The drastic action rattled the police department and sent a stern message as well.
