VNIT student hangs self,students claim harassment by professor

Nagpur News: A second year engineering student committed suicide by hanging himself at his hostel room of VNIT college on South Ambazari road on Thursday morning.

Sai Tej, a student of Electronics and Communication branch, originally hails from Vasantpuram in Hyderabad.

Police sources informed that a suicide note was found from the room. However, the college authorities claimed that no suicide note was found.

Police informed that Sai was depressed after he scored less marks in his second session exams. His roommate told police that Sai was depressed from last ten days.

The roommate informed that Sai would remain alone and was not having his food properly.

Sources from college informed that Sai was harassed by his professor for his poor performance. A student claimed that professors would fail them by even one marks.

Students claimed though Sai was a good student and had scored good grades but still the harassment by professors over few marks has forced him to end his life.

Sai took an extreme step while his roommate had gone to attend the classes. He returned around 11 am when he found that Sai was not opening the door. Neighboring students helped the roommate to broke open the door and Sai was found hanged to the ceiling hook.

College authorities were alerted who then informed nearby doctors. He was declared dead. Later, Ambazari police investigated the spot. The body was shifted to mortuary at government medical college and hospital. Police said that the post mortem will be conducted tomorrow after his family members will come. A case of an accidental has been registered.
