In an innovative effort to connect and bring the youngsters of the community together, the office-bearers of Vidarbha Maheshwari Sports Association (VMSA) have been holding various events throughout the year.
The office-bearers include Neeraj Loya, Prashant Mohta, Praveen Surjan, Vineet Teriwan, Parishit Chandak, Sidharth Chandak, Shrikant Sarda, Gopi Malu, Mayur Rathi, Shishir Sarda, Sachin Paschisia and Prateek Sarda.
The Vidarbha Maheshwari Sports Association (VMSA) has been organizing the cricket tournament for the last 5 years. Every year around 250-300 kids of Maheshwari community come together and take active participation in these tournaments.
This Cricket Tournament has been organized in the same format of IPL League Matches. The teams were also made in the same IPL format. Therefore 8 teams were made and team members were also distributed.
This year the Vidarbha Maheshwari Sports Association (VMSA) had organized the programme at Rajwada Palace. During the programme the players were auctioned just as it is done during IPL on August 9, 2014. Interestingly Abhishek Heda had garnered the highest bid of Rs 7400/-.
The Programme was made interesting when the Owners of the team had come on the stage along with their wives, had performed a Ramp walk and later had launched their team T-shirts.
The entire programme displayed a very postive environment for the youngsters to come together and be united, yet maintain a sense of competitiveness. Most of the top industrialists, businessmen, traders and others made their presence felt. They encouraged the players of each team during their address. The MD of TMT, Lodha Group had acquired the main sponsorship of the event.
The prominent teams include Cloud 9 United owned by Basant Kela, Sachin Pachisia and others, Dynamic Chargers owned by Prashant Mohota, Knight Rangers owned by Aditya Pasari, Deepak Mandhana and others, Murli Master Blasters owned by Mahesh Maloo and Dinesh Maloo, Sunrisers Eleven owned by Pankaj Tapadia and Gaurav Sarda, Marwad Super Kings owned by Shishir Sarda and Arpit Khemani, SK Bikes and Bulls owned by Pravin Surjan and Nilesh Gandhi, Pethe Tigers owned by Arun Bhutda and Harish Bhutda.
The Chief Guests included CMD of Topworth Group Surendra Lodha, MD of Bhagirath Textile Ramesh Randad, Chairman of Soni Polymers Prakash Soni, IPL Player Faiz Fazal was the Guest of Honour at the function. Sudhir Baheti was also prominently present as the Special Guest.
During the inauguration ceremony, a brief account of VMSA’s last year activities was presented. A host of cultural programmes were also be conducted during the event.
In an exclusive talk with Nagpur Today, one of the Office-Bearers of the Vidarbha Maheshwari Sports Association Mayur Rathi said that they have many activities organized for the youth throughout the year.
They include the Football Tournament held at Yeshwant Stadium. Then they have Summer Games organized during Summer Vacations which include Olympiad, Carrom, Swimming, Table Tennis, Badminton, Snooker, Double Wicket Cricket and Chess. These Summer games are organized at Hinganghat in the Sports Facility of Gimatex Textiles (Mohta Mills).
Apart from this they organize Tennis Ball Flood Light Tournament. This year they are going to introduce 3 new events. They are Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament for under 15 children. They plan to have a VMSA Saturday Night Programme. (Party night). There will also be an event called “VMSA Pariwar” for young couples.
While speaking to Nagpur Today, MD of Thermex TMT Surendra Lodha said that this is the first time in five years that I have become the lead sponsorer.
While expressing his pleasure in being amongst the owners, big industrialists and businessmen who have taken out time from their busy schedule, Surendra Lodha said that these great men have large heartedly contributed through finances and time to ensure that Maheshwari youth come together and take active participation in the communities organized activities.
He opined that the tournaments organized by VMSA will enhance good inter personal relationship amongst the Maheshwari youth. He added that participation in the cricket tourney will help the Nagpur youth to be physically fit, healthy and will prevent them from involving themselves in any negative and wastefull pursuits.
MD of Soni Polymers Prakash Soni who is also the President of local chapter of Ekal Vidyalaya which runs thousands of schools all over Vidarbha, said that VMSA is full of enthusiasm and energy. While expressing his happiness that he is a part of a great happening organization, he added that few players have decided to donate the amount which they will win to the schools. He wished that all the great activities organized by Maheshwari community continue year after year.
Former IPL Player Faiz Fazal while speaking to Nagpur Today said that being the 4th highest player of Ranji Trophy played in India was signed by Rajasthan Royals in IPL. He opined that Maheshwari community is doing great job by encouraging sports as part of their life. He added that, all teams must hold sportsman spirit, enjoy and play willingly. However, to achieve sportsmanship it is important to be physically trained, healthy and keep working on it.
