New Delhi: Former comptroller and auditor general Vinod Rai, whose computation of a notional loss of Rs 176,000 crores in the sale of 2G spectrum was recently junked by the CBI special court, is readying to rebut former telecom minister A Raja’s utterances since then, even terming the former CAG as a “contract killer’.

Even as the CBI readies to appeal against the court order acquitting everyone in the case, and ruling there was no scam involved, Rai said he too was preparing his own stand.

“I will speak out and tear apart A Raja’s claims and prove how my figure of Rs 176,000 crores was indeed a loss,” Vinod Rai said when asked if he will implead himself in the case. “I am consulting lawyers about all aspects, and I will not speak anything now,” he added.

The Union law ministry has given permission to the CBI to appeal against the court ruling acquitting all accused, and it is only a matter of time, say, the middle of February, before the CBI files its appeal, a government source told media.
