Vigyan Bharati and VIA Officials Meet ISRO Chief

During the recent visit of ISRO Chief Dr. A. S. Kiran Kumar to orange city for the University Convocation, office bearers of Vigyan Bharati (VIBHA) and Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA) met him at Regional Remote Sensing Center to seek guidance and cooperation for promoting involvement of local students in ISRO’s research activities as well as exploring how industries from the region can lend support for ISRO’s development plans. Dr. Kiran Kumar promised to come again to address the industrialists of the region at VIA for enlightening how the industries of Vidarbha can get associated with ISRO and promote vendor development here. About the involvement of students in ISRO projects, the Post Graduate students of Science and Engineering streams can participate in the projects of ISRO which are flashed on its website inviting innovations for challenges ahead, he explained.

A request of VIBHA members to permit toppers of VIBHA’s national level examination Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) to visit ISRO on the lines of NASA was also accepted for consideration by Dr. Kumar.

During the meeting Dr. Kumar was briefed about the activities of Vigyan Bharati as well as Vidarbha Industries Association. His attention was also drawn to the geographically central position of Nagpur which is strategically convenient for many promotional activities. Besides, the city was among the list of selected smart cities and, thus, is expected to witness fast all-round development, he was told.

The delegation led by Dr. Mithilesh Tiwari, retired scientist from ISRO and Vice President of Vigyan Bharati’s Vidarbha unit included Shri Vishram Jamdar, .Chairman of local VNIT and VIBHA patron, Shri Suresh Rathi, Vice President of VIA, Shri Naresh Chafekar, Joint Secretary of VIBHA and Prof. Sunil Bhat of VNIT.
