Nagpur: In what could be a serious safety flaw, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan school at Civil Lines made all their children, including the kindergarten kids, to brave through gushing rain waters to attend regular classes on Thursday morning. Amidst heavy downpour since Wednesday night that flooded the city and the streets around Bhavan’s, the school management blatantly ignored the safety concerns putting the lives of children at serious risk. “No notification message was sent to us regarding any school closure today”, informed one of the parents who struggled his way to reach the gate of the school.
The scene on the spot was quite evident from this video which reached Nagpur Today this morning.
Eye witnesses reported that one of the kids had a fall and washed away with the sweeping waters until a rickshaw fellow caught hold of him and rescued him to safety.
The heavy rains since Wednesday night have marooned most of the low lying areas. As the school is located midway to the slope from Zero Mile to Regional Transport Office, it quickly turns into island at the heavy spell of rains.
Nagpur Today tried to talk to the principal but she could not be reached.
