Video : Ek Diya Shaheedon ke Naam – a lamp that lighted up emotions

Nagpur: This Diwali, hordes of citizens came up together for a thought-provoking gesture that relived the sacrifice each soldier made towards nation. The citizens gathered at Gandhi Bagh Garden on CA road to light up a diya and remember the martyrs who laid down their lives to keep their motherland’s honor intact.

Hosted by Nagpur Today, Ek Diya Shaheedon ke Naam was an event to rejoice the festivities in the honor of our real heroes – our soldiers.

The first ‘diya’ was lit by the widow of Shaheed Harbansingh who lost his life in the 1971 Indo- Pak war. His wife was just 18 then and her little daughter Sweety was 2 months old. Now Sweety, in her 40s could not hold her tears as the diya was kept in front of her father’s photo.

Catch hold of those emotional moments when Nagpur Today called upon the people to come together and pay their regards to these saviors of he nation.

Also present on this occasion were Dayashankar Tiwari, Corporator and leader of Ruling party BJP in Nagpur Corporation, Girish Vyas M.L.C., Sudhakar Deshmukh M.L.A. from Nagpur and Mayor Pravin Datke.
