Vidarbhaveer Jambuwantrao Dhote, others arrested for beating a policeman on duty

The Vidarbha statehood protagonist and others were found tearing apart hoardings in the dead of night at Akashwani Square.

Nagpur News: In a shocking development of political nature, Vidarbhaveer Jambuwantrao Dhote and others have been arrested for beating a policeman who had rightfully asked them to desist themselves from tearing apart some hoardings put up at Akashwani Square in a violent way and thus would have created  a law and order problem. The veteran Vidarbha statehood protagonist had announced “Dharna” agitation from December 7 and had given a call for Vidarbha “Bandh” on December 9 the day the Winter Session of Maharashtra Legislature begins.

According to police, the accused Jambuwantrao Bapurao Dhote (70), resident of Yavatmal, Sanjivan Sitaram Walde (45), resident of Indora, Jariptka, Nagpur, Nisarg Ashok Pande, (27), resident of Thakre Layout, Dabha, Nagpur, Mandar Rajiv Deshmukh (27), resident of 150 A, Old Subedhar Layout, Nagpur, Arun Pandurang Banvak (51), resident of Golibar Square, Nagpur, and Sunil Shankarrao Dabhore (56), resident of Tilak Nagar, Amravati were resorting tearing apart hoardings at about 0020 hours of Sunday (December 8) shouting and sloganeering at Akashwani Square in Civil Lines. At the same time, Police Constable Praful DashrathBondre (31), attached to Police Headquarters, saw the group indulging in illegal actions and asked them desist themselves from their actions. However, Jambuwantrao Dhote and others attacked the Police Constable Bondre and thrashed him without any provocation and thus put hurdles in his rightful Government duty and committed a criminal offence by attacking and beating the Government servant on duty.

The policeman Praful Dashrath Bondre lodged a complaint at Sadar Police Station against the accused in this connection. Acting on the complaint, the Sadar PSI Godbole booked the accused under Sections 353, 332, 143, 427 of the IPC and arrested Jambuwantrao Dhote and other accused.
