Nagpur: Pushing forward its demand of separate Vidarbha and loan waiver to farmers, Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti (VRAS) activists on Thursday staged ‘Rail Roko’ andolan at Sevagram. Coming from all parts of Vidarbha, the activists sqauuted on the tracks in the eastern side of Sewagram Railway Station. The agitation lasted for an hour.

During the andolan, Tamilnadu Express coming from Chennai and a goods train going towards Delhi direction were stranded at the station. Despite deployment of a large posse of local police and RPF jawans, the VRAS activists managed to stage the agitation. However, after one hour of the protest, the policemen succeeded in removing the activists from the tracks.

“During pre-election period, the BJP government made false promises of ‘Separate Vidarbha’ and debt-free farmers to the people of Vidarbha. However, after winning the elections, it seems they forgot their promise. ‘Rail Roko’ is called to draw the BJP government’s attention towards their promises made to Vidarbha people,” said Ram Nevle, convenor of VRAS.
