Nagpur:
VIA delegation led by its President Atul  Pande, President called upon Prakash Jawadekar Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on Saturday 24th October at Hotel Pride and submitted a memorandum listing out  the problems faced by industries in Chandrapur District.

The memorandum stated that Government of India imposed moratorium for issuance of Environmental Clearance on all industries including expansion of existing industries in 56 clusters in India in January 2010 for a period of six months, which was revoked in all industrial clusters except Chandrapur, due to which industrialists are suffering for the five and half years, and are totally in the dark about their future.

The delegation pleaded that while so much efforts are being made to attract new investments in Vidarbha, hundreds of crores worth investments are turning into NPAs for want of removal of moratorium. They stated that MoEF is silent on this blanket ban on industries in the region and the situation has deteriorated to such an extent that even existing industries are  closing down for no fault of theirs as the major pollutants are not the private industries but PSUs on whom only Govt has control and therefore they should be acting on war footing for maintaining pollution norms.

As far as private industries are concerned, due efforts within their means to reduce pollution has  been consciously taken by the industries and results show air and water pollution levels have drastically come down. The Minister who gave a patient hearing said that he was fully aware about the problems faced by the industries in Chandrapur and guided them on how to go about in solving this issue.

The delegation which included Past Presidents  Pravin Tapadia, Prafull Doshi,  Rohit Bajaj; Rohit Agrawal Hon. Secretary, Pankaj Bakshi and Yagesh Surjan Jt Secretaries, Also present were suffering industrialists from Chandrapur – Pradip Bukkawar Vice President MIDC Assn Chandrapur, Saurabh Agrawal, S R Patel, Deepak Jain, Tumane, Uttam Daokhere, Vshnu Kumar Oza, Dilip Jeulkar, Shailesh Mokaddam, Deepak Jain all members of MIDC Association Chandrapur.
