VAYUSENA CHALLENGE CUP CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP – 2013 BEGINS TODAY

Nagpur Today : Today 5 Jan, Vayu Sena Challenge Cup (VSSC)-2013 Cricket Tournament got under way with a grand inaugural ceremony on 05 Jan 13 at Maintenance Command Cricket Ground at Vayu Sena Nagar, Nagpur. Air Marshal Jagdish Chandra, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command, IAF inaugurated the sporting event.

He was introduced to the team captains as the teams were lined up in front of the pavilion in their respective team kits. The ceremony was attended by all senior Officers, air warriors and Vidarbha Cricket Association officials. The Chief Guest walked upto the pitch and witnessed the toss being conducted between the two playing team captains.

 

The tournament is likely to witness keen contests among the eight participating teams, including host and defending champion Indian Air Force team. Other teams are Ruby Cricket Club, Reshimbagh Gymkhana, Navniketan, Eleven Star, Indian Gymkhana, Nashik Cricket Academy and Majumdar Cricket Academy.

The tournament is being conducted under the aegis of Vidharbha Cricket Association. All the matches will be played as per the existing BCCI rules governing One day International format on round robin and knock out basis. Unlike the previous VSCC, this year white balls, coloured clothing by the players and black sight screens will be used in the tournament. The matches will be played at Maintenance Command Cricket Ground (MCCG) and Ambajhari Cricket Ground (ACG) under splendid and superb playing conditions.

After the grand ceremony, the first match of the tournament was played between Indian Air Force and Indian Gymkhana.
