Ustad Pyarelal Wadali passes away at 75 following a cardiac arrest

Ustad Pyarelal Wadali, Ustad Puran Chand Wadali’s younger brother passed away this morning in Amritsar following a cardiac arrest. The Sufi singer breathed his last at Fortis Escorts Hospital. He was 75. The late singer was admitted to the hospital yesterday.

The Wadali Brothers are known for their soul-stirring Sufi Music. They began their musical journey with a performance at the Harballah temple in Jalandhar. The duo, Ustad Pyarelal Wadali and Ustad Puran Chand Wadali are known for various singing styles including Kaafian, ghazal and bhajan. Their most recent and memorable Bollywood numbers include Aye Rangrez from Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan starrer Tanu Weds Manu, and Tu Hi Tu Hi from Shahid Kapoor starrer Mausam.

Before the Wadali Brothers became Sufi singers, elder brother Puran Chand Wadali was a regular in a wrestling ring for about 25 years, while Pyarelal Wadali who just passed away at 75 played the role of Krishna in the Raasleela. We are deeply saddened by Ustaad Pyarelal’s demise. We hope his soul rests in peace.
