11:26 am: As soon as the House assembled after the 15-minute adjournment, the Opposition members again resorted to uproar and slogan shouting saying that they expect meaningful announcement and not only the discussion. The Leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil charged the Government of insensitive towards farmers’ problems. The Central team came seven times but did not extend any help. On the other hand, the Union Agriculture Minister stated in Lok Sabha that the State Government had not sought any assistance. Moreover, even after relief announcements by the Government the suicides by farmers have not stopped. The cotton and soybean farmers are in distress, said the Opposition Leader.
The NCP Leader Jayant Patil said that 2500 farmers have committed suicides. Hence, the Question Hour should be suspended and discussion be initiated.
The Minister Khadse asserted that the Government is ready for detailed debate. Do it now. However, the Opposition did not satisfy with Khadse’s reply and continued slogan shouting.
The Speaker Haribhau Bagde asked the agitating members to calm down but to no avail. Amid the din, Bagde adjourned House again till 12 noon.
