University students denied exam forms

Nagpur News: External students of Master in Arts (MA) and Social Science (SS) were furious because colleges refused to give them a chance to fill the exam form on Saturday.  As a result, only 250 out of thousands of students were able to fill their forms. On Friday Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj (RTM) Nagpur University decided that external student of MA and SS can fill the exam form on 13 October.

Thousands of the students across Nagpur, Gondia, Bhandara and other districts that come under Nagpur University went to fill their exam forms, but were refused the forms by the college staff. According to the Principal and staff of a college in Gondia, they didn’t get any letter and order form the Nagpur University, so they couldn’t give the exam form. Many students got the information from the newspaper and went to nearby colleges. Out of thousands of student only 250 got a chance to fill the exam form, because they went to examination center at Nagpur.

Sources said, “Before this problem, when students went to examination center and colleges, staff didn’t accept their forms. They told students that they are not eligible to sit for the exam on December 5, 2012. They can sit for 2013 December exam. Only those students who took admission in first year can give the exam. The University implemented the semester pattern for the Masters degree in 2012, but the faculty, dean and academic section of university didn’t consider the problem of external students of MA and SS. How will they give the exam?”

Senate member Mahendra Nibarte said, “University should postpone the date to 20th October. Otherwise the students will raise their voice.” Controller of examination said, “For students we opened exam center on Saturday. Students knew this. The university will not postpone the date again.”
