Under DCP Rashmita Rao, Zone-4 Police Sweep City in Pre-New Year Crackdown

Nagpur: In a strong pre-emptive move to ensure public safety ahead of New Year celebrations and the forthcoming Nagpur Municipal Corporation elections, Zone-4 police, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Rashmita Rao, carried out an intensive combing and nakabandi operation across the zone between December 27 and December 30.
The special drive was conducted daily from 7 pm to 11 pm by all police stations under Zone-4 jurisdiction. During the operation, police teams checked suspicious persons and vehicles and initiated strict action against those involved in illegal activities.
According to official data, police examined 149 suspects and accused and checked 193 suspicious vehicles. The operation led to the seizure of four illegal weapons.

Action was taken in:
13 cases of illegal liquor sales
6 cases related to drug consumption
53 persons booked for consuming alcohol in public places
2 gambling cases
1 externed accused booked for violating restrictions
13 cases of drunken driving
The combing operation was primarily conducted in sensitive areas falling under Hudkeshwar, Nandanvan, Imambada, Ajni, Sakkardara, and Beltarodi police stations, where police visibility was significantly increased to deter criminal activity.
For the drive, DCP Rao deployed one Assistant Commissioner of Police, three Police Inspectors, 10 officers, and 50 constables.
Speaking on the operation, DCP Rashmita Rao said that strict action against criminal elements will continue and that the police are following a zero-tolerance policy towards alcohol abuse, drug use, illegal weapons, and criminal tendencies, especially during the festive season and election period.
