Nagpur: The violent attack following a Christmas party at Dabo Club on Wardha Road has claimed a second life. Gaurav Brijlal Karda (34), who had been battling for survival in the ICU for several days, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, police confirmed.
Karda had been critically injured in the early hours of December 26, after a clash broke out following Christmas celebrations at the club. He remained in a critical condition throughout his treatment before passing away.
According to police, Karda was allegedly attacked by Saumya Deshmukh and his associates near Pride Square, under the jurisdiction of Sonegaon Police Station, at around 4 am. Two groups were celebrating Christmas at the club when an argument reportedly erupted inside the premises.
One of the key accused, Soumya Deshmukh, is kin to two police personnel and the son of a leading party leader. Deshmukh’s father also claims to be a human rights activist.
The dispute allegedly began after one of the accused misbehaved with a woman accompanying Karda and his friends. While the issue appeared to have been temporarily settled inside the club, tensions resurfaced once both groups moved outside.
The confrontation escalated near a parked XUV vehicle, where the accused allegedly assaulted the victims using sharp weapons, iron rods, and bricks. Two youths sustained serious injuries in the attack.
Earlier, Pranay Naresh Nannavare (28) had died during treatment, making Karda the second fatality in the case.
Police have registered serious offences in connection with the incident, and further investigation is underway. The case has once again raised concerns over repeated violent incidents linked to late-night parties at city clubs, particularly along Wardha Road.
