Two youths were injured critically when the motorcycle they were riding in was hit by a car near Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University Square at around 1 am on Thursday. The car driver also sustained minor injuries.

The injured youths have been identified as Swapnil Raghunath Kamble (24), a resident of Shatabdi Nagar Square and Prafulla Pantaone (22), a resident of Jogi Nagar. Both have been admitted to Dhande Hospital near Ravi Nagar Square. The car driver, Sameer Sharma (30), a resident of Gokulpeth, is also undergoing treatment in the hospital.

According to police, on Wednesday, Swapnil and Prafulla went to attend a family programme in Wadi. When they were returning home on their motorcycle (MH 31 EC 0013), the rashly driven car (MH 31 EA 1812) rammed into their bike. Both the youths fell on ground with forceful impact while the speeding car turned upside down before several tumbles and turns. The accused driver, Sameer, also sustained injuries while Swapnil and Prafulla received serious injuries in the accident.

Some passersby immediately informed Ambazari police about the ghastly mishap. Cops reached the spot and rushed the injured to Dhande Hospital. Eyewitnesses said the car was being driven with a great speed and thus went out of control.
Cops have registered a case against Sameer and likely take him into their custody after his discharge from the hospital.
