Two illegal firearms seized in separate police raids; 3 arrested in Koradi, Khaparkheda

Nagpur: In two separate operations, Koradi and Khaparkheda Police seized illegal country-made firearms and arrested three accused, including one absconding suspect, during routine patrols and election-related route marches.

On November 20, 2025, around 5:30 pm, a Koradi Police investigation team was conducting a route march in connection with the Nagar Panchayat elections when they received information about a man possessing an illegal firearm at Hotel NDH-47.

Acting on the tip-off, police laid a trap and raided Room No. 100 of the hotel. The accused, identified as Harshpreet Singh alias Anmolsing Harmitsing Saluja (24), a resident of Baba Buddhaji Nagar, Tekanaka, was found in the room.

During his personal search, police recovered a country-made pistol and three live cartridges, collectively valued at Rs 20,000, concealed inside his pants. Police stated that the accused was carrying the weapon with the intention of committing a cognisable offence and had violated prohibitory orders issued by senior officers.

Koradi Police have booked him under Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act, along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, and formally placed him under arrest. Further investigation is underway.

Absconding accused arrested in Khaparkheda firearm case

In another case, Khaparkheda Police have arrested an absconding accused involved in an illegal arms transaction.

Earlier, on April 4, 2025, between 1:06 am and 2 am, Khaparkheda Police, acting on a tip-off while patrolling, raided Ward No. 06, Chankapur village. The team arrested Suraj alias Musa Ramesh Warankar (25) and recovered a country-made pistol worth Rs 25,000 from his possession.

Warankar revealed during interrogation that he had purchased the weapon from Ravi alias Jagga Ashok Yadav (20), a resident of Kawadas, Patansaongi, who then absconded.

On November 19, 2025, acting on reliable intelligence, Khaparkheda Police located Ravi alias Jagga in Patansaongi, detained him, and upon questioning, he confessed to supplying the weapon. He has been arrested, and further probe is ongoing.

The operations were carried out under the supervision of DCP Dr Sandeep Pakhale (Zone 6) and ACP Ankush Khedkar (Kamptee Division).

The active police team included Senior PI Harish Rumkar, PSI Vilas Karangami, Constables Namdev Tekam, Mukesh Waghade, WPC Kavita Gondane, and Constables Pritam Thakur, Raju Bhoyar, and Amit Khobragade.
