Two houses burgled of gold, cash worth Rs 10 lakhs

Nagpur: In separate incidents, burglars struck two families who had been out of town and made away with gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 10 lakhs from both the houses.

At Nandanwan, Kumbhartoli resident Chintaman Aamghe, 73, and his family had gone to Wardha for a relative’s marriage on Thursday. Aamghe returned on Friday morning to find his house broke open and ransacked house. Aamghe claimed that he suffered a loss of cash Rs 14,000 and gold valuables worth Rs 2 lakhs.

While in another incident at Sitabuldi, Raksha Mehta, 44, had been to Gujarat for two days when thieves broke open her flat in Jai Kalpana Apartment in Ramdaspeth and made away with ornaments and cash worth Rs 8 lakhs. Mehta had left the town on Monday. On Wednesday morning, her neighbours noticed her flat’s door broken open.

Mehta reported the matter on Thursday morning after she returned home. She reported the loss of silver valuables, diamond rings, gold valuables and cash Rs 4000.
