Two goons from Hyderabad arrested for Rs 18 lakh burglary in Nagpur

Nagpur: Anti-House Breaking Squad (AHBS) of Nagpur Police’s Crime Branch arrested two hardcore criminals from Hyderabad who had burgled cash, diamond jewellery, gold ornaments, gold coins and other valuables collectively worth Rs 18 lakh from a businessman’s flat at Ramdaspeth in Sitabuldi Police Station area last month.

The accused have been identified as Mohammad Salim Mohammad Habib Qureshi (51), a resident of 4-13, Mohammadabad , Gandeed Mandal, district Rangareddi, Telangana and Shabir Jamil Qureshi (32), a resident of Rafiq Nagar, Govandi, Mumbai.

Rajendra Kamdar, a resident of Flat No C/2, Nirmal Ganga Apartment, Farmland, Ramdaspeth, and his wife were out of station. Their flat was locked. Between March 25 and 26, accused Mohammad Salim and Shabir Qureshi gained entry into their flat after breaking open the door lock. Both the intruders then broke the lock of a wooden almirah and made away with Rs 4.40 lakh cash, a diamond necklace, a gold ring, gold coins and a wrist watch collectively worth Rs 18 lakh.

Following a complaint lodged by Rushabh Kamdar (43), son of Rajendra Kamdar and a resident of 261, Vignesh Eternia, Lendra Park, Sitabuldi Police had registered a case under Sections 454,457,380, 34 of the Indian Penal Code. Acting on a tip off, AHBS of the Crime Branch visited Hyderabad and nabbed Mohammad Salim and Shabir Qureshi. The AHBS members seized a Maruti Swift Dzire car and two mobile phones collectively worth Rs 9.20 lakh from them.

Mohammad Salim is hardcore criminal and 213 cases are registered against him at different police stations in the country. Shabir Qureshi, too, is a hardcore criminal and 22 cases were registered against him at different police stations in Mumbai. Both the accused were handed over to Sitabuldi Police for further investigation.

The arrests were made by PI Kiran Kabadi, API Mayur Chaurasia, HCs Rajesh Deshmukh, Ravi Ahir, Prashant Gabhne, Shrikant Uikey, NPCs Nilesh Patre, Sudhir Pawar and Praveen Rode under the supervision of DCP (Detection) Nimit Goyal.
