Two goons demand extortion money of Rs 1 lakh from woman, booked

Nagpur: Wadi police have booked two persons on charges of demanding extortion money of Rs 1 lakh from a young woman. The two accused also threatened to kill the woman if she failed to meet their demand.

The accused Prakash Bamnote and Dadu Lanjewar had helped the woman Deepali Dhanraj Dighore in getting a low-cost hut in Ganesh Nagar Slums, 8th Mile, Amravati Road. However, the two accused later started demanding Rs 1 lakh as extortion money from Deepali. Prakash and Dadu also demanded Rs 5000 as rent for the hut every month. The accused threatened to kill Deepali if she failed to meet their demand. Scared by the threat, Deepali twice paid Rs 5000 to the accused. But when the accused Prakash and Dadu demanded Rs 1 lakh as extortion money, Deepali approached Wadi police and registered a complaint.

PSI Kharsan, acting on her complaint, has booked the accused Prakash Bamnote and Dadu Lanjewar under Sections 386, 387, 452, 34 of IPC and investigating the matter.
