Nagpur: Two tricksters from “United Kingdom” and their one local accomplice duped a young woman to the tune of Rs 3.56 lakh in the name of sending her a ‘costly’ gift. Cops have launched a search to nab the ‘United Kingdom’ conmen, most probably crooks from city itself.

The accused have been identified as Rodger Williams, UK, Vilinine Williams, UK, and Rajiv Kumar. The names of the three accused are most probably the bogus ones.

The victim, Priti Parasram Chute (32), a resident of 5/4, Somwari Quarters, near ESI Hospital, was made a Facebook friend by the accused Rodger Williams of UK between December 12, 2017 and December 15, 2017. He regularly chatted with Priti on Facebook. Shortly thereafter, the accused lured Priti with ‘costly gifts’ and procured email details of her. Later, another accused Vilinine Williams told that the gift is being sent through a courier named Tara Express Service.

In the meanwhile, the third accused Rajiv Kumar phoned Priti and informed her that the her gift has arrived from ‘United Kingdom’ and asked her to transfer Rs 3.56 lakh to various bank accounts from time to time. Believing the tricksters, Priti deposited the amount as told. However, as there was no sight of the gift coming to her residence, Priti sensed something amiss and realized she has been cheated. She immediately approached Sakkardara police and registered a case in this connection.

Sakkardara police constable Ravindra has booked the accused under sections 420, 34 of the IPC and launched a thorough probe to apprehend them.
