Two chain-snatchers relieve woman at knife-point, one caught by people after a hot chase

Nagpur: Two-chain-snatchers not only relieved a woman at knife-point in front of her residence but attacked and injured her. But the incident happened to be a different one as one of the chain-snatchers was chased and caught by neighbouring people. Another mugger managed to escape and is being hunted by cops.

The victim, Neeta Neelam Babar (47), resident of Plot No. 65, in front of Radhika Palace Apartment, Hanuman Nagar, was talking to her friend around 7.50 pm on Sunday. The two chain-snatchers Sheikh Asif alias Jalya Sheikh Taj (30), resident of Hasanbagh and his unidentified accomplice scared the two women and snatched gold chain from Neeta’s neck. When she resisted, she was attacked and injured. However, while fleeing, the two chain-snatchers were chased by neighbouring people who had heard shouts of Neeta and caught hold of Sheikh Asif. The accomplice of him managed the escape from the scene. Sheikh Asif was given a sound beating before being handed over to police.

Ajni PSI Mohan has booked Sheikh Asif under Sections 394, 34 of IPC and searching for his accomplice.
