Nagpur: Ramtek police on Saturday seized a truck in which 17 cattle were being transported in cruel manner. Acting on a tip-off that the the cattle were being transported in a truck at Nagardhan, 7 kms from Ramtek, cops reached the spot and stopped the truck (MH-40/Y 0951) and checked the vehicle. They found that a total of 17 cattle including buffaloes and oxen were dumped in cruel manner and were being transported without permission.

Cops seized the truck and cattle collectively worth Rs 19.10 lakh.

Ramtek police have booked the truck driver Vidshal Sonu Markam (25), Seoni, MP, under Sections 3, 5, 9, 10, 11(1),(D), (E) (F) of the Cruelty to Animals (Prevention) Act read with Sub-Section 114 of Mumbai Police Act and placed him under arrested.
