A recklessly driven truck ran over a Ramtek resident on Bhandara road, killing him on the spot on Wednesday night. Kalamna police were informed after the unknown truck struck the pedestrian. The truck driver managed to flee the spot along with the vehicle.
Police sources said Harish Yawalkar, 40, resident of Wadamba, Ramtek, was walking in front of Steel Hardware Corporation Company, Bhandara Road when the speeding truck hit him down. He fell unconscious with the impact of the accident and passersby rushed in for help.
However, he was pronounced dead soon after the accident. Meanwhile, Kalamna police were informed about the accident after which they rushed to the scene. Cops performed panchanama and sent the body for post mortem to Government Medical College and Hospital and registered a case under Sections 279, 304 (a), of the IPC read with sub sections 134 and 177 of Motor Vehicle Act.
