Nagpur: A 61-year-old woman was killed after being knocked down by a speeding Eicher truck at Freedom Park Square under Sitabuldi police station jurisdiction on Wednesday afternoon. The truck driver allegedly fled the scene without stopping to assist the critically injured victim, triggering a police hunt.
The deceased has been identified as Chandrakala Ramdayal Rode, a resident of Plot No. 40, Radhanagar, Narsala Road, Dighori.
According to police, the fatal accident occurred around 2.30 pm on November 4, 2026, when Chandrakala was walking towards the State Bank of India’s Railway Station branch to inquire about her provident fund (PF).
As she reached Freedom Park Square, an Eicher truck bearing registration number MH-40-N-4449, allegedly being driven at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner, rammed into her.
