A man was killed and another was injured seriously when the motorcycle they were riding in was rammed by a recklessly driven truck near Gorewada Sqaure in the morning of Monday.
According to police, Basavraj Gangaram Mhaitre (45) and Manoj Sitaram Palwi (40) were proceeding towards Gorewada Square for some private work on Hero Passion motorcycle (MH-31/DC 6818). When both Basavraj and Manoj reached near the Gorewada Square, a truck (MH-31/ CB 8820) coming from the opposite direction dashed head-on with their motorcycle. The impact left both Basavraj and Manoj critically injured. However, Basavraj, who was injured gravely and was in intolerable pain, cried loudly for a few minutes and then succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Manoj was rushed to the Mayo Hospital by a passing by vehicle where he is battling for life. The truck driver fled the spot after the accident.
Gittikhadan police reached the spot and started investigation. They have booked the absconding truck driver under Sections 279, 337, 338, 34 (A) of the IPC and under Sub-Section 184 of Motor Vehicles Act. Gittikhadan PSI Aade is probing the matter further.
