Nagpur: Sitabuldi police have rounded-up a 44-year-old travel agent, a resident of Itwari for allegedly raping a 39-year-old woman by giving her slipping pills in her drinks when she had visited his Ramdaspeth based shop in May 2017. The victim said that she was raped repeatedly till December 2018.

Police have booked accused Aarif Abdul Kadir Sheik a resident of Itwara Bazar, near Mutton Market, Ward no. 26 under Sections 376, 328, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The accused had threatened to defame her if she revealed the matter to anybody and started blackmailing her. Hence she remained silent for all these months, the rape survivor told the police.

According to police, Sheik works as a travel agent in Ramdaspeth based shop Travel Tag where he first met with the survivor. A 39-year-old woman had some queries regarding her insurance schemes, following which the accused started meeting her in her office. In May 2017, the accused invited her to his Ramdaspeth office on the pretext of assisting her with insurance. When the survivor went to meet him, Sheik slipped sedatives in her drinks. Soon when the victim lost conscious, Sheik raped her and threatened her with dire consequences if she discloses this to anyone.

Subsequently Sheik started to commit this heinous crime on regular basis by blackmailing the survivor.

However, fed-up with this continuous physical torture and mental trauma, the survivor finally developed the courage. She then narrated her ordeal to her family members following which they approached Sitabuldi police station and filed a complaint.
