Nagpur: Adhering to the directives of Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court, the Traffic Police initiated action against the truckers whose heavy vehicles were parked on the road on Thursday.

The cops of Traffic Department had undertaken action against the trucks lined up in front of Food Corporation of India Godown waiting to unload the food grains which they have transported from various places.

The traffic policemen had clamped jammers on the wheels of as many as twelve trucks.

The Division Bench comprising Justice Bhushan Dharmadhikari and Justice Z A Haq had given directions to NMC and the Traffic department to take stern action against all parking violators of heavy vehicles like trucks and buses.

While speaking to Nagpur Today, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Bharat Tangde said that, now that they have been empowered to take action against erring parking violators of heavy vehicles, they are going to take up the action in a big way. He claimed that many school-buses, college-buses, trucks are parked in a haphazard manner on the road and in-turn hindering the smooth flow of traffic. He claimed that if a truck brings some goods into the city in the night, till his turn comes, the truck driver should park his vehicle in the Transport plaza only and not on the roads.
