
Nagpur — In a significant development for the trading community across Maharashtra, a high-level delegation of the Maharashtra State Vyapari Kruti Samiti, comprising senior leaders from prominent trade bodies, met Hon’ble Marketing Minister Shri Jaykumar Rawal today. The crucial meeting, held at the Divisional Commissioner’s Office, Nagpur, focused on long-pending APMC-related concerns and key policy issues affecting lakhs of traders across the state.
The delegation included Dipen Agrawal, President – Chamber of Associations of Maharashtra Industry & Trade (CAMIT); Bhimji Bhanushali, President – GROMA; Rajendra Bathia, President – The Poona Merchants’ Chamber; former President Raikumar Nahar; Naveen Goyal; Pritesh Shah, Secretary – FAM; Prafull Sancheti, President – Nashik Kirana Wholesale Traders Association; Suresh Chikkali, President – Solapur Bhusar Adat Vyapari Sangh; Amarsingh Desai and Sharad Shah – Sangli Chamber of Commerce; Amol Shah, Nilesh Doshi, and Nilesh Bhinge – Baramati Merchants’ Association; Kiran Mundada, President – Gondia District Traders Federation; Apoorv Agrawal; Harish Pawar, President – Aurangabad Merchants’ Association, and Secretary Rakesh Jain; Sunil Mundada, along with several office bearers representing various regional and sectoral trade organisations from across Maharashtra.
Over the course of the intensive 90-minute discussion, the delegation presented six major issues linked to the functioning of APMC markets and the regulatory environment governing trade in agricultural commodities. The key demands included:
• Abolition of Market Cess
• Withdrawal of User Charges
• Stopping the Levy of Cess Outside Market Yard Premises
• Elimination of Double Taxation
• Action Against Illegal Check Posts
• Provision for Online License Renewal for Five Years
The delegation emphasised the adverse financial, operational, and compliance burdens these issues impose on traders statewide. They urged the government to take swift, corrective measures to streamline trade, reduce harassment, and ensure uniform implementation of policies across all districts.
Hon’ble Marketing Minister Shri Jaykumar Rawal gave a patient hearing to all submissions and engaged in constructive, issue-wise deliberations. The Minister acknowledged the longstanding concerns and expressed commitment to protecting the interests of the trading community.
Of the six points raised, the Minister agreed in principle to take favourable decisions on four issues. For the remaining two major issues, he assured the delegation that a follow-up meeting will be convened shortly to arrive at final, conclusive decisions.
The meeting was also attended by Shri Sanjay Kadam, Panan Sangchalak; Shri Prashant Patil (IAS); and senior officials of the Marketing Department, underscoring the seriousness and administrative weight of the discussions.
The Maharashtra State Vyapari Kruti Samiti expressed optimism that today’s assurances would translate into concrete policy actions, bringing long-awaited relief to traders across the state.
