Nagpur: The Municipal Commissioner Ashwin Mudgal on Monday gave a dressing down to officials over pathetic works in their respective zones. The top NMC boss and Additional Commissioner Dr Ramnath Sonawane paid a surprise visit to Dharampeth, Gokulpeth and Sadar areas and found road potholes, foothpath encroachments, garbage heaps aplenty. Mudgal slammed the officials for failure to supervise and monitor the civic works.
Mudgal put the babus on notice and warned of suspension action against concerned Zonal Officers and Assistant Commissioners. He said that he would visit all zones without any prior notice and will not hesitate to suspend Assistant Commissioners for negligence in discharging their statutory duty. Mudgal also stopped Kanak Resources vehicles collecting and transporting garbage. The NMC sanitation workers were not in uniform after which Municipal Commissioner took Health (Sanitation) Officer Dr Pradip Dasarwar to task. He directed Assistant Commissioner Mahesh Morone to immediately remove construction material dumped on road and footpath after levying fine.
During his inspection, Mudgal also found broken footpaths and choked nullahs. He directed the officials to repair the footpaths and undertake nullah cleaning work in war footing. Accompanied by Additional Commissioner Dr Ramnath Sonwane, Mudgal warned of tough action against encroachers, vendors dumping waste food on roads.
