Nagpur :

TimesPro, an educational subsidiary of the Times of India Group, launched its latest state-of-the-art learning centre in Nagpur, Maharashtra on July 2, 2015. Well-known for its industry-vetted vocational courses which makes young professionals day 1 hour 1 ready for the job, the institute is currently offering a Post Graduate Diploma in Banking Management and the popular 2-year distributed MBA. They plan to introduce other banking and analytics courses in the coming months.

According to the 2015 Talent Shortage Survey by Manpower, a human resources company, nearly 58% of Indian employers had trouble hiring staff members. Lack of practical skills and specialised training were cited as the main reasons. It is no surprise then that the market for vocational training institutes grew at a steady rate of nearly 25% from 2008 to 2013. And the demand is only increasing, especially in smaller cities which aspire to progress and become at par with the country’s financial hubs.

Speaking on this initiative, Mr. Rajesh Kachroo, Business Head, TimesPro said, “Despite being the third largest city in Maharashtra and home to a number of leading private banks, the students in Nagpur and the surrounding Vidarbha region face difficulties in securing good jobs in the banking sector. This is mainly due to the lack of specialised skills and industry knowledge; a direct result of lack of quality educational institutions providing vocational training as per industry standards. Before the launch of the TimesPro learning centre, students from Nagpur had to travel all the way to Pune or Mumbai to pursue further studies and gain training to become employable. The launch of the new centre means moving closer to our student base and helping ease their financial burden of relocating to a new city.”

As Nagpur embarks on the journey of becoming an educational hub in the future, TimesPro has partnered with corporates such as HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, YES Bank and Bajaj Capital, IndusInd Bank, and Edelweiss for placement opportunities.
