TIME organised football tournament ends with Hislop College winning trophy

Nagpur: An inter-collegiate football tournament, organised for the first time by Tirpude Institute of Management Education (TIME) to promote the sport among college students in Nagpur, concluded recently.

Hislop College emerged winner in the 16-team tournament played over two weeks in group, quarter, semi and final matches. The tournament culminated with the final match played between Hislop College and City Premier College on October 9. The Hislop team eased past their opponents to a spectacular win with a final score of 5-0. The City Premier College retained the second position.

In another match of the day, SFS College bagged the third position after beating Tirpude Institute team, on penalties, in an equally exciting match. Prizes to winners were presented at the hands of chief guest, Dr. Kalpana Jadhav, Director of Physical Education Department, Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University. Other dignitaries witnessing the final match include Dr Lalit Khullar, Director, Tirpude Institute of Management Education, Dr Vivek Awsare, Director, Nasikrao Tirpude College of Physical Education, Dr Praveen Mustoor, Chairman-Placements, TIME and Prof Carol Rao, Coordinator-UG, TIME.

The winning team of Hislop College was awarded a trophy and cash prize of Rs 7,500. The second and third prizes of Rs 5,000 cash and Rs 3,500 cash were awarded to City Premier College and SFS College, respectively. Swapnil Bharodia and Vasu Kanojia (both from Hislop) were adjudged the ‘Best Goal Keeper’ and ‘Best Goal Scorer’ of the tournament, respectively. The entire tournament was conducted by Prof Sarang Warudkar.
