Tiger census in state from January 20, transect method to be used

Nagpur: The census of tigers will take place between 20 Jan to 25. In the census takes place every 4 years. Along with the tiger projects the census of tigers and other carnivorous and herbivorous animals in the State will also be undertaken during this survey.

During these five days the counting will be done by transect method. The report of this will be released by National wildlife Institute, Dehradun and Tiger Conservation Authority by 15 March. State Deputy Principal Chief Conservator (Wildlife) has given the orders.

The training camp for the census of 2018 which is to take place in many phases was held in Pench Tiger Reserve Project in December 2017. During this a detailed discussion was held regarding the techniques and ways to be applied. The time period has been fixed for the census of the wild animals in entire country. The work of survey in the forest will start on 20 Jan. First the census of carnivorous and then herbivorous animals will take place.
