Thousands bid emotional farewell to Uri braveheart Panjab Uike

Nagpur: The mortal remains of Uri braveheart Vikas alias Panjab Janrao Uike, who died in Sunday’s dastardly militant attack, were consigned to flames at his native Nandgaon Khandeshwar village in Amravati District on Tuesday with full military honours. Thousands of people including near and dear ones bid an emotional farewell to the brave son of Vidarbha.

Earlier, the body of Vikas Uike was flown in at Belora Airport of Amravati by an Indian Air Force helicopter from Nagpur. The Guardian Minister of Amravati Pravin Pote, MLA Anil Bonde, District Collector Kiran Gite, Captain Ashish Chandel, and a host of prominent personalities laid wreaths and saluted the supreme sacrifice of the soldier.

Later, the coffin carrying body of Uike was placed in a flower-decked Army vehicle and taken to the martyr’s native village Nandgaon Khandeshwar for the last rites.
