Thieves snatch away bag containing Rs 50 K from woman

Two motorcycle borne unidentified youths pounced on a woman while she was disembarking an auto-rickshaw and snatched away bag containing Rs 50,000 cash and other valuables from her possession. The incident happened on Wednesday Ajni police station.

Police sources Madhuri Vinayak Chikate (64), a resident of Plot No. 464, Hanuman Nagar, Professor Colony, on Wednesday had gone to Maharashtra Bank to withdraw Rs 50,000 cash. She withdrew the money and left the bank in a rickshaw. She kept the money in a bag along with a Nokia cell phone, three passbooks, and senior citizen’s card. She reached her house and was about to leave the rickshaw when two unidentified thieves came from rear on their motorcycle and snatched her bag. Before she could recover, the motorcyclists had fled off.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by Madhuri, Ajni police have registered an offence under sections 392 and 34 of the IPC and started their investigations.
