When Columbus set eyes on the land of Americas from his ship he thought he had found India! So the local people they found on the vast continent were called ‘Indians’, ‘Red Indians’ or even Injuns…
These names exist even now, centuries later, making us kindred souls. And it is uncanny how so many Native American/ Red Indian arts and crafts are very similar to ours. As are some food habits, our liking for ‘spice’ for instance.
Well, now there is a place in Nagpur where you can be transported to the ‘Indian land’ in USA.
We are speaking of’ the Indiana Chief’ located in Pragati Colony, close to Sai Mandir on Wardha road. From the moment you enter the place, you are surrounded by Red Indian artifacts like the beautiful ‘Dream catcher’ and many photographs and posters of Indian sayings.
The cuisine they offer is still evolving, but the few things we tried were undoubtedly good and something you would go back for again and again. We tasted their meat patties that they make for meat burgers – not really available anyone else in Nagpur – and the vegetable lasagna which more than hit the mark.
But what is really unique about Indiana Chief is it offers much more than food and atmosphere. You can book space to have a Book Swappers’ meet, a session of poetry reading and to learn Yoga and Zumba. Many more ‘artful’ activities are on the cards.
So do visit to soak in some ‘Indian philosophy’ and spicy food! We leave you with this bit of wisdom:
