We have enhanced our 3G network to give superior experience to our customers and now with our growing customer base we are expanding our reach and penetration beyond large towns into the periphery and rural areas. Alongside, we are designing and introducing products which suitably address the local needs in these regions. Our product are examples to that of a highly customised, value for money and effectively packaged, providing our users a combination of data and voice facilities at an affordable cost.

He claimed that we are the only player in the market that offers an integrated portfolio comprising 3G, Photon, GSM and CDMA offerings for consumers as well as enterprises. This expansion will also enable us to capitalize and further our leadership position in the rapidly growing data market on small and large screens across GSM and CDMA platforms, added Gupta.

Upgrading and expansion

Tata Docomo, the unified telecom brand of Tata Teleservices today announced expansion plans for Maharashtra.  In the last FY the company has enhanced their network coverage and presence in the region with 4700 cell sites and extending services to 900+ towns.

This FY, Tata Docomo has already added 700 3G sites and plans to penetrate deeper into Tier 2 towns and rural Maharashtra by adding an additional 600 3G cell sites during the year. The overall expansion, once completed, will further strengthen Tata Docomo’s position to ensure that the company’s rapidly growing customer base enjoys seamless voice & data services, even while in the hinterland and on roaming.

Customer-centric tailor-made services

To address the growing demand of Voice and Data connectivity, the company has also drawn up a good value based product portfolio for customers looking for a combination of free voice minutes and fixed data usage.  Tata Docomo customers can choose their preferred package ranging from Rs 199 /- per month to Rs 1099/- per month depending upon their usage requirements.  Further more for customer ease in Postpaid there is no differential pricing for local & STD calling. Post the free minutes / 3G data consumption, customers will be charged at a flat calling rate of 45 Ps/Min and can avail unlimited 2G data for the balance period of the billing cycle.

The exclusive customer-focused plans are created to cater to the needs of diverse segments of the Maharashtra market including professionals, home makers and youth based on their monthly usage.

The company has an 8.2% revenue market share and remains the 4th largest telecom player in Maharashtra. The Company continued to witness strong uptake of data services by its mobile users. TTML GSM Data revenue during the quarter grew more than 65% year on year and more than 10% quarter on quarter with an improvement in data realization.

The company has so far rolled out an extensive drive to strengthen and expand its on ground presence with more than 340 Prepaid distributors, 125 Postpaid Channel Partner, over 40,000 retail touch points and 54 technologically advanced branded retail stores across key towns in order to offer seamless services to its customers not only in urban centres but also in hinterland towns.

My Tata Docomo App

The company has recently launched the My Tata Docomo App which enables an end user to manage all their Tata Docomo accounts at one place on their mobile devices without having to travel to distant stores. Through this app customers will be able to pay their bills, recharge, manage their payment history, activate and deactivate any plan, find a Docomo store and much more.
