The professor has been sent on leave pending an internal inquiry, while police have confirmed that no formal written complaint has been filed so far.
Professor Asked to Stay Away From Campus
Symbiosis Law School Nagpur Director Dr. Sukhvinder Singh Dari told Nagpur Today that the faculty member had been sent on leave pending the outcome of the internal inquiry. The professor has also been instructed not to visit the campus or participate in academic activities during this period.
The development comes amid growing attention to the allegations and tensions on the campus.
No Formal Police Complaint So Far
In an exclusive statement to Nagpur Today, DCP Zone 2 Nityanand Jha confirmed that neither the student nor her parents had submitted a formal written complaint to the police as of the latest update.
Despite the allegations circulating widely on social media, police said the situation had remained peaceful, with no law-and-order problems reported on campus.
Protesters Gather at Campus Gates
The campus witnessed heightened activity in two phases on Saturday.
In the morning, around 15 to 17 representatives of various organisations gathered at the university gates to protest over the issue. Police intervened and facilitated discussions between the groups and the university management.
The situation remained under control as officers coordinated with the administration.
Evening Open House Draws Over 100 Students
Tensions resurfaced around 6:45 pm when approximately 15 to 20 people, accompanied by the student and her father, arrived at the university.
Around the same time, the institution’s internal inquiry committee convened an open-house session, attracting an estimated 100 to 120 students to the campus.
Police personnel managed the gathering and allowed a delegation of six to seven people, along with the student, to meet the administration.
During the discussions, the inquiry committee assured the delegation that the allegations would be examined thoroughly and appropriate action would be taken within the stipulated timeframe.
Police Urge Public Not to Spread Rumours
DCP Zone 2 Nityanand Jha said the overall situation remained peaceful and that no law-and-order disturbance had occurred on the campus.
Police continue to coordinate with the university administration and have appealed to students, parents and the public not to circulate unverified claims or rely on rumours circulating on social media.
The case remains at the internal inquiry stage, with no formal police complaint reported as of the latest update. Further developments will depend on the findings of the inquiry and any subsequent action by the concerned authorities.
