Nagpur: Five patients, including two infants, undergoing treatment at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) were confirmed to be suffering from swine flu on Sunday.

The H1N1 flu tests being conducted at the microbiology laboratory of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) also processed samples of two patients from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (MGIMS), Sewagram, both of which turned out positive.

“Eleven samples belonging to patients from our hospital were processed on Sunday. Five patients were confirmed to be H1N1 positive, which comprise three females aged 4, 34 and 44 and two males aged 4 and 32,” informed an official from GMCH.

Despite it being a holiday, tests were carried out on Sunday because of the huge pile up of samples pending to be processed. The laboratory has processed total 314 samples since January 1, 134 of which were found positive, making the positivity percent 42.5%.
