Suspicious hubby, in-laws booked for forcing woman to commit suicide

Nagpur: In a curious turn of events, a complainant man has emerged as the key accused in forcing his wife to commit suicide over domestic issue. Now, the man and his parents have been booked for abetting the suicide.

The deceased Sarita Arjun Shahu (28), resident of Plot No. 86, Kamna Nagar, Viabhavlaxmi Nagar, Kalamna, around 5.30 pm on November 5 ended her life by hanging to a ceiling fan with the help of sari in her bedroom. At that time Kalamna police had registered a case of accidental death and launched a thorough investigation into the matter.

A detailed investigation, however, revealed that the deceased Sarita’s husband Arjun Bahali Shahu was a suspicious man and every now and then questioned her character. Arjun’s mother Ramabai Shahu and father Bahali Shahu too supported his suspicion and taunted Sarita over her character.

The accused trio mentally and physically harassed Sarita and often told her to die. Fed up with the torture, Sarita ended her life on November 5 by hanging to ceiling fan. Following the revelation, deceased Sarita’s mother Vimlabai Balarame Shahu registered a case against the three accused with Kalamna police.

Acting on the complaint, PSI Bhagile booked Arjun Bahali Shahu, Ramabai Shahu and Bahali Shahu under Section 306 of IPC and launched a fresh probe.
