Nagpur: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (Mahavitaran), which is always committed to providing services to electricity consumers through modern technology, has provided many facilities for paying electricity bills to low and high pressure consumers. Using these modern facilities, during the year from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023, the low pressure electricity consumers in Nagpur Circle of MSEDCL have preferred to pay online payment of as much as 60.24 percent. Interestingly, this figure is about 8 percent more than in 2022.
In the entire year 2023, low pressure consumers in Nagpur Circle have paid electricity bills worth more than Rs 2, 127 crore at home and safely with a total of over 86.62 lakh online transactions.
Instead of standing in a queue at a bill payment centre or paying the electricity bill during office hours, Mahavitaran mainly offers the facility of paying electricity bills at home and 24 hours a day through ‘online’. For this, the website www.mahadiscom.in and “Mahadiscom Mobile App” are available to all customers of MSEDCL.
Therefore, it is possible to pay more than one electricity bill from a single registered account ‘online’ and save the details of monthly bills of all electricity connections and the receipt of payment in the computer or mobile phone. Additionally, Mahavitran has also provided the facility to pay electricity bills through RTGS/NEFT for all customers with electricity bills above Rs 5000.
All electricity consumers of the high pressure category of MSEDCL are paying their electricity bills online every month and low pressure customers have paid almost 60.24 percent of the amount online. In this, the customers of Nagpur City Division have paid electricity bills of more than Rs 1,500 crore through more than 55.23 lakh online transactions.
Following this, through over 17.25 lakh transactions, the customers of Nagpur Rural Circle have paid more than Rs 379 crore and the customers of Wardha Circle have paid more than Rs 247 crore through more than 14.13 lakh online transactions.
A total of 1.25 percent discount is being given to the electricity consumers if they pay the electricity bill ‘online’ and 0.25 percent of each month’s electricity bill within the limit of Rs.500 per month and 1 percent if they pay the electricity bill promptly. Specially, electricity bill payment through ‘online’ through all other options except credit card is free.
A safe and convenient online service is available for low pressure customers to pay their electricity bill with one click from the comfort of their homes. Payment of electricity bills online is very safe and due to the provisions of Reserve Bank of India’s Payment and Settlement Act 2007, MSEDCL has appealed to more consumers to accept the option of online electricity bill payment.
