The Group has reached the striking distance unless the Ruling BJP in NMC and the top party leader, who is prospective candidate for Lok Sabha seat in Nagpur, correct the wrong. The Group is in mood to teach lessons to the “Big Brother” that garnered the support of the Group to be at the helm and rule the NMC immediately after the elections of the civic body by promising a big share of beneficial posts and more and more development funds for their respective Wards. However, the promises turned hollow and thus leaving the Group red faced. But now they have geared up themselves for a face-off, the sources said.

The fuming, fretting, and feeling ‘fooled’ Group of 15 Independent Corporators have gone into revolting mode and reached the striking distance unless the Ruling BJP in NMC and the top party leader, who is prospective candidate for Lok Sabha seat in Nagpur, correct the wrong. The Group, comprising of two Corporators of Muslim League, two Corporators of MNS, eight Independents, two of Bharatiya Republican Party Bahujan Mahasangh and one Corporator of RPI (Athawale), is in mood to teach lessons to the big party that garnered the support of the Group to be at the helm and rule the NMC immediately after the elections of the civic body. The Ruling Party pocketed their support by promising a big share of beneficial posts and more and more development funds for their respective Wards. However, the promises turned hollow and thus leaving the Group red faced. But now they have geared up themselves for a face-off, the sources said.

The Group has decided to hold a crucial meeting in Hotel Hardeo to chart out the next course of action and subsequently take a decisive step. If the sulking 15 Corporators stand unitedly, the meeting would possible be held after Lok Sabha elections. The agenda of the meeting depends on the “deal” the BJP candidate offers to them. At least Rs 20-25 lakh each by the BJP candidate to the Group of 15 Corporators during the Lok Sabha elections would hammer out the problem. And the Group would be seen with the Ruling Party in NMC standing shoulders to shoulders. Otherwise, the Group is determined to teach the lesson to the “Big Brother” for taking them to ride, sources said.

It may be recalled, the last meeting of the Group was held in a Sadar hotel and two office bearers in the NMC were seen outside the hotel and trying hard to foil the meeting but miserably failed in their efforts. The very next day, the same two office bearers were again seen in the NMC Headquarters trying to convince and calm the head of the Group of 15 Corporators. On one hand, the aim of the BJP office bearers is to keep the Group “at peace” till the Lok Sabha elections are over. On the other hand, the Group has started exerting pressure keeping in mind the Lok Sabha elections that are drawing nearer and nearer. The Group clearly wants either the BJP candidate or the Ruling Party provide development funds for their Wards and “development fund for themselves,” sources further said.
