Suhas Pednekar is VC of Mumbai University

Mumbai: Dr Suhas Pednekar is appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University on Friday.

The Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of Universities in the State CH. Vidyasagar Rao handed over appointment letter to Dr Pednekar at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Friday. Pednekar is Professor of Chemistry and Principal of Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College. He will serve as the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Mumbai for the period of 5 years or till attaining the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.

Pednekar has succeeded Dr Sanjay Deshmukh, who was removed from the post of Vice Chancellor of the University on October 24, 2017 after creating a mess in exam result. Since then Devanand Shinde, Vice-Chancellor of Shivaji University, Kolhapur, was holding the additional charge of the post of Vice-Chancellor.
