Nagpur: Despite the Union Home Minister’s intervention on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border dispute, the Karnataka government is adopting a duplicitous stance, says State legislative assembly council opposition leader Ambadas Danve. Danve demanded in the House that the government should take a strong stand for the protection of Marathi brethren and Karnataka needs to be given a befitting reply.

Danve raised the issue of banning the entry of people’s representatives from Maharashtra who participated in the march organized by Maharashtra Belgaum Integration Committee in Belgaum Monday. The border dispute between Maharashtra and Karnataka has been pending for the last 61 years.Danve said the Karnataka government is constantly adopting a duplicitous stance.

In a way, the representatives of the people of Maharashtra state are being blocked, which is why they are questioning whether they are living on the India-Pakistan border,he asked. The issue of 875 villages in Belgaum Karnataka border is not today, but the Karnataka government is trying to provide facilities in Jat, Solapur, Akkalkot, this has created a lot of dissatisfaction among the Marathi brothers there.

Therefore, the people of Maharashtra, the legislature and the government should come together for this and make its position clear in this regard, he added.
