DSC_0319Nagpur: As Nagpur Bench of Mumbai High Court has recently directed to strictly control sound pollution in the city, the directive must be followed unfailingly in the city and more so during forthcoming festivals like Ganeshotsava and Durgotsava. Also ensure that the organizers of these mandals abide by the high court directive, said resident Dy Collector Ravindra Kadam.

He was speaking to the media men during press conference called on Wednesday, July 29, for the same purpose.

It may be mentioned that social worker Mahesh Bedekar had filed a writ petition in the high court against growing sound pollution in the city. Disposing of the petition, the high court directed the district administration, Nagpur Municipal Coporation and the police administration to ensure that the sound pollution in the city is strictly checked.

Accordingly, the citizens too have been appealed to immediately report to the police control room or dial phone number ‘100’ in case they find sound pollution occurring in their respective areas.

Kadam further said, if any area-wise sound pollution occurs, it will be recorded independently, and the specifically deputed police officers under their respective police stations will firmly handle the situation of sound pollution. The complainants shall be informed of the action taken on their complaints in this regard.

In case of any lapse in this regard, the NMC officials and police officers shall be held responsible, he added.

He also appealed to all mandals and citizens to cooperate with the administration as per high court directives.
