“Statue of Unity” being built in Gujarat to pay tribute to Sardar Patel to have Nagpur touch

The an iconic 182-meter statue will be the tallest in the world. The Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said, “The significance of this statue is not merely in its size i.e. in meters or feet but its educational, historical, national, and spiritual aspects will be far greater than the size. My dream is to develop this place as an inspirational source for the centuries to come. Gujarat is determined to fulfill this dream by uniting the strength of the citizens of the nation.”

Nagpur News: The national campaign for collecting farming tools as symbol of contribution and support of millions of farmers towards building of Statue of Unity, a gigantic tribute to Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, reached Nagpur.

The Gujarat Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Narendra Modi, is building an iconic 182-meter statue, the tallest in the world, as a tribute to the Icon of Unity Vallabhbhai Patel. The statue is being built at the Sadhu-Bet Island, approximately 3.5 kms south of Sardar Sarovar Dam at Kevadia in the Narmada District of Gujarat. The majesty of this grand monument will be enhanced by a picturesque backdrop. Its unique location will prove to be beneficial for eco-tourism and regional development.

The Gujarat Government delegation, led by its Minister of Revenue, Road and Building Anandiben Patel, was accorded a warm welcome at Patrakar Bhavan of Nagpur Union of Working Journalists.

Speaking to media, the Gujarat Minister said, “Every citizen of India knows that it was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who had led courageous actions at the time of Independence. Sardar Patel merged 562 princely states at one stroke in order to make India a united nation. Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has taken up such a great work of constructing the world’s tallest 182-meter statue “Statue of Unity” of architect and patriot of united India as a part to honour the grand contribution of Sardar Patel in historical achievements and fight for Independence,” the proud Gujarat Minister Anandibai Patel said.

“During freedom movement, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel united millions of farmers across the nation to join the historical movement of freedom fighting under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi. Patel had led the historical Bardoli Satyagrah against the Britishers and strengthened the movement. Now, each citizen should cooperate in the creation of “Statue of Unity,” the Gujarat Minister appealed.

The Chief Minister Narendra Modi , with the mantra of “Ek Bharat, Shreshta Bharat” (One India, Incredible India), laid the foundation stone of “Statue of Unity” on October 31, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Chief Minister said, “The significance of this statue is not merely in its size i.e. in meters or feet but its educational, historical, national, and spiritual aspects will be far greater than the size. My dream is to develop this place as an inspirational source for the centuries to come. Gujarat is determined to fulfill this dream by uniting the strength of the citizens of the nation.”

The delegation of Gujarat Government, led by led by its Minister of Revenue, Road and Building Anandiben Patel appealed the farmers to contribute the tools used farming. Similarly, the Minister said, earth from all villages, cities will be collected for the glorious work of building “Statue of Unity” and from December 15, the death anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, iron collection campaign would be launched. She appealed Nagpurians to contribute their might by all means and ways to greatest work of building the “Statue of Unity” and pay their tributes to the Icon of Unity, the Iron Man of India Vallabhbhai Patel.

A Run for Unity has been organized on December 15 from morning 8 to 11 with a theme “Doudega Bharat-Judega Bharat” and to spread a message “Sardar Patel made a united nation, we will make the nation supreme.” The Run for Unity has been organized by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Rashtriya Smarak Samiti-Maharashtra (Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial Committee-Maharashtra). The BJP MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar is Member of National Committee while party MLC Vinod Tawde is Maharashtra Convenor.
