Nagpur: The long-pending establishment of the Maharashtra State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) Battalion No. 5 at Isasani in the Katol–Narkhed constituency has finally received a major boost, with the state government approving ₹58.86 crore for infrastructure development. The confirmation came from NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) leader Salil Deshmukh, who has been actively pursuing the proposal with the state administration.
Deshmukh shared that the project—originally proposed by former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh—had been stalled for years due to funding delays. “After persistent follow-up with the Maharashtra Police Housing and Welfare Corporation, the government has now sanctioned ₹58.86 crore for constructing the administrative building, residential quarters, and other essential facilities,” he said, adding that tenders for the project have already been floated.
The SRPF Battalion No. 5, which is currently operating from Amravati, was officially sanctioned under a Government Resolution dated May 12, 2022. The state had earlier allotted 42.65 hectares of land at Isasani for the battalion’s permanent base. With financial approval now in place, construction work is expected to begin soon, paving the way for the battalion’s relocation from Amravati to Katol.
Once completed, the new campus will house administrative offices, staff quarters, and key amenities for police personnel.
“This battalion will serve as a crucial security presence between Katol and Narkhed talukas. It will not only strengthen regional policing but also generate local employment opportunities,” Salil Deshmukh said.
